We are an independent Nursery School. We are not paying franchise fees or association membership fees. We use technology to run our website and emails, but we do not use a costly technology platform for communications.
We charge for consumables and experiences which are above and beyond the requirements of the Early Years statutory requirements, which all children benefit from. These are also for children to participate in activities and experiences that meet their individual needs, interests and development needs.
There is an experiences charge over the morning and afternoon sessions of attendance with funded hours. This is not an exhaustive list. It provides examples of what we buy to provide your child with unique experiences.
If you are planning to pay through Universal Credit, please check with them that they will pay the consumables, experiences, additional hours and additional activity charges.
We hire specialist learning resources for additional experiences and sessions.
We have access to Track Tots equipment to teach the children about directional language, engineering and construction.
We have access to In The Dark equipment to provide light-up sensory experiences e.g. in the dark tents, in the dark sensory room, and light-up resources.
We buy batteries, pay for charging devices and running them using electricity.
We pay for Cook Stars to work with us to bake delicious savoury and sweet cake dishes.
Cooks Stars provides the ovens, measuring equipment, baking equipment, ingredients, decorations and gift boxes.
Our baking experiences are wonderful fun!
We buy seasonally themed stickers, general stickers, stamps and reward charts throughout the year for children to be rewarded for their achievements and behaviour.
We also have special prizes and larger rewards for significant achievements.
We have purchased emergency Adrenaline Auto-injector devices for use in our Nursery School.
The adrenaline auto-injectors will be used in line with the manufacturer’s instructions, for the emergency treatment of anaphylaxis in accordance with the Human Medicines (Amendment) Regulations 2017. This allows schools to purchase ‘spare’ back-up adrenaline auto-injectors for the emergency treatment of anaphylaxis.
We request parental permission to use an EpiPen. We will always seek medical advice as we use the EpiPen.
We regularly replace our outdoor play sand and child safe soil.
A lot of outdoor play sand is wasted during play and needs to be replaced regularly. If it is contaminated or has been exposed to weather outside for a while, it can become unsuitable for play.
We use a range of soils that don't contain animal feces, fertiliser chemicals or skin irritants. This also needs to be replaced regularly or is used up in the children's garden activities.
We buy flour, oil and salt each week to make our own playdough.
We buy glitter, sequins, gems and more to put inside our playdough.
Where we want the modelling clay to be taken home, we buy crafting clay.
During our learning about winter, we buy snow fluid to use in our snow machine. We buy fake snow and shredded plastic to add to our play dough and gloop to give the experience of feeling the texture of the snow.
We also hire in/buy softplay items and larger play equipment for use inside for when the weather is such that we can't go outside.
For our Lunar New Year (Chinese New Year) celebrations, we buy each child a fortune cookie and gold coins. They make a money pouch and decorated card.
We buy noodles, rice, prawn crackers, and sweet and sour sauce to make a Chinese dinner. We buy chopsticks for the children to try out.
We buy extra laminating pouches to create posters and decorations to transform our role play area into a Chinese Restaurant.
We buy additional items of interest including dressing-up items and artefacts for the children to explore.
For our activities during the week of Shrove Tuesday, we use real-life ingredients to demonstrate how to make a pancake. This includes flour, eggs and milk.
We use ready-made pancakes for children to toss the pancake. All children have a toasted pancake to eat. We have a selection of toppings including jam, fruit and lemon juice.
For Valentine's Day, we buy each child a chocolate heart. They make and decorate a card.
We buy biscuits, chocolate decorations and icing sugar for each child to make Valentine's biscuits.
We buy food bags for the biscuits to be taken home, if not eaten within the setting.
In order to use our robots, programmable vehicles and handheld electronic devices, we buy batteries.
For our laptops and other electronic devices, we use more electricity.
For a range of experiments, we buy the items needed e.g. for an erupting volcano, we buy vinegar and bicarbonate of soda. For slime, we buy saline fluid, bicarbonate of soda and PVA glue.
For World Book Day, we administer the FREE/£1 Book Tokens.
We provide additional World Book Day experiences and specialist resources.
We work with local businesses to arrange book donation programmes.
For Mothering Day, we buy additional cards and decorative items e.g wooden spoons, for the children to make something special to take home.
We also offer the opportunity for a printed photograph to be included on the card. We buy the photo paper and ink cartridges.
For our Three Little Pigs story activities we use a range of items to make the houses to be blown down.
We buy wheat biscuits to use as bricks. We use a shredder to shred paper to make straw houses and lollipop sticks to make stick houses.
For oral Health Day, we buy tooth paste, toothbrushes, floss and other oral health products to demonstrate to the children how to clean their teeth and look after their oral hygiene.
We administer any free products for families.
We provide porridge oats for the children to use in messy play activities e.g. filling bowls, weighing and measuring.
To engage further in the story, children try eating porridge e.g. Ready Brek.
Easter is a time of Easter Egg hunts! We buy Easter decorations and extra laminating pouches to make Easter decorations.
Children may make Easter cards and Easter bonnets.
For messy play, children may make Easter nests using Rice Krispies and chocolate.
We have a visit from our Easter bunny and may buy Easter eggs for the children.
Gruffalo crumble is made from rhubarb, digestive biscuits and custard or ice cream.
We grow rhubarb in our garden. We buy digestive biscuits and custard or ice cream.
The children can enjoy a bowl throughout the spring and summer.
Over the holidays in April, we provide photocopiable resources for children to do activities whilst we are closed.
There are Holi colouring sheets and cultural ideas to explore.
For Holi celebrations we buy the coloured powered for the children to hold and play with.
During April, all children plant seeds in pots. We buy the seeds, compost, pots and labels. These are for each child to take home and to grow.
We plant carrot seeds and potatoes which children are able to dig-up and take home for their dinner.
We often provide sunflower seeds for our sunflower growing competition.
During spring, we order up to 20 caterpillars to feed and grow into butterflies.
This costs approx £65.00 including VAT.

During spring, we order a batch of live eggs to hatch into chickens.

During lambing season, we make a free visit to a local farm. We buy the emergency kit to take with us on the visit. This includes emergency blankets, first aid, bin bags, wipes, gloves, cups and mats to sit on.

Parents are able to purchase ice creams and snacks from the vending machines.

When we read and learn about the Hungry Caterpillar, we buy and eat all of the food from the story! We have ice creams, melon, strawberries and more.

For graduation, we buy a graduation outfit for your child to wear. If you would like one to take home, we can recommend a supplier.

We buy and make certificates for each child, and give them a small momento of their time at our Nursery School.
To get your little one ready for school, we buy additional resources and books to help prepare your child to understand the routines and activities that they will do at school.
During Harvest Festival, we make scarecrows. This involves buying additional paper and straw materials to make the scarecrows, lolly pop sticks, cable-ties and decorative resources.
Each child will make their own scarecrow out of card and/or clothing.
We buy pumpkins for children to carve, use for messy play and to turn into soup.
We buy carving sets, messy play scoops an hire a soup maker.
We buy jelly, spaghetti and other messy play food.

We provide tea-lights to light-up a lantern for the children to join our lantern walk.

Christmas is a special time of year. We buy a wide range of crafts for the children to make and take home eg. glitter baubles, crackers, stockings, bags, calendars,
We also buy cottonwool, Christmas stickers, Christmas stamps and other seasonal crafts.
We have a visit Father Christmas who gives a Christmas gift.
Where we can throughout the year, we work with charities to receive donations of resources and materials.
We also organise free experiences through visits by author's, Emergency services and other visitors.
