Early Years Space requirements are as follows:

3.5 square metres per child under 2 years old

2.5 square metres per child aged 2 to 3 years old

2.3 square metres per child aged 3 to 5 years old

At The Tots' Clubhouse House Nursery School, we will only ever have the correct number of children in a correctly sized indoor or outdoor space.  The space consideration is also dependent up the useable space for a child.  It excludes the areas such as entrance halls, corridors etc.

Our indoor room spaces are as follows:

Willow Room is measured at 300mm by 800mm.  This gives a total of 24 square metres.

Willow Room is legally operational with 6 x under 2s, 9 x 2 year olds, 10 x 3 to 5 year olds.

Oak Room is measured at 1028mm by 500mm.  This gives a sub-total of 51.4 square metres.  We have one recessed space of an additional 2.7 square metres.  This gives a total of 54.1 square metres.

Oak Room is legally operational with 15 x under 2s, 21 x 2 year olds, 23 x 3 to 5 year olds.

These are maximum legal capacity of children within the space.  However, space use is dependent upon staff to child ratios.  Please see our Staffing Policy for staff to child ratios.

Our outdoor space on our lawn is as follows:

The marquee is measured at 14 m by 6 m.  This gives a total of 84 square metres.

The marquee is legally operational with 24 x under 2s, 33 x 2 year olds, 36 x 3 to 5 year olds.

The garden is measured at 14 m by 6 m.  This gives a total of 84 square metres.
